Pastors Jonathan and Angie Stockstill founded Bethany College with the vision of helping students encounter God and equip them to engage in their God given purpose. Their goal is to see the local church empowered with qualified, trained leaders. In their first year at Bethany College, students complete 27 hours of coursework, consisting of general education, personal formation, Biblical theology, and leadership and ministry. In their second year, students continue to build on their Biblical and ministry foundation, as well as gain practical experience in a concentration of their choice. After graduating Bethany College, select students are invited to continue their education in ministry with a third year internship at Bethany Church.
Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to minister with 220, Bethany Church’s ministry that weekly reaches over 2500 young people in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. Students attend local middle and high schools where they lead Bible clubs and mentor young people from 12-18 years of age. Opportunities are also available for community outreaches, evangelism, and pastoral care ministry. Qualified men and women who have been selected by Pastors Jonathan and Angie Stockstill oversee this hands-on training. Students also experience many incredible times of teaching and impartation from Pastor Larry Stockstill, Pastor Joel Stockstill, and our Lead Pastors. As a result of our life transforming and faith-revolutionizing program students are empowered to accomplish the impossible.
Bethany College rests upon the foundation of Bethany Church and is guided by the spiritual fathers of this ministry. One of our goals for students’ time here is that they experience and receive an impartation of the heart of Bethany. Even beyond learning Biblical knowledge and gaining practical ministry skills, we desire our students to graduate with a commitment to integrity and excellence in their future ministries.
At Bethany College, we strive to enrich student’s educational experience with discipleship. Residential advisers, faculty, and staff pastors are available to guide students in their spiritual development. Students attend a weekly discipleship class, where they can receive ministry from our seasoned leaders and learn to pursue their freedom in Christ. Our goal in providing mentorship, study halls, and social and spiritual atmospheres is to produce success in each student’s life.
Bethany College prioritizes Jesus’ command to go into the entire world and preach the Gospel. We believe that as we obey, the Holy Spirit backs us up with His power. From the city streets to the hospitals to the school classrooms, students have opportunities to preach the Gospel and witness miracles all over Baton Rouge.
The heart of Pastor Jonathan and Angie Stockstill is to provide a fun, radical, and spiritual atmosphere in which students can develop into ministry leaders who are people-focused and service-minded.
Instructors who have studied and are currently working in their particular field of ministry teach the large majority of classes at Bethany College. Our academic program’s advantageous edge is due to the practicum opportunities for hands-on local church experience. We place great value on marrying ministry theology and methodology.
The weekly practicum provides students with experience in leading Bible studies, hosting outreaches, mentoring young people, leading prayer meetings, and planning national conferences.
Students are also trained in the creative elements of a church’s worship experience, such as music, creative media, stage design, service managing, and directing volunteers.
